A. Song Writing Category

  • Each college and school must have only one (1) entry of an original song composition.

  • Each entry should have a maximum of two singers only.

  • The maximum number of members each entry is ten (10) which includes the composers and singers and instrumentalists.

  • The minimum time for the song is two (2) minutes while the maximum time is four (4) minutes; this already includes the intro and the extro.

  • The overriding theme for the competition is “Love”, most specifically romantic love. Any form of romantic love is applicable (for example, heartbreak, falling in love, etc.).

  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Plagiarism in any kind will result to disqualification.

  • During the presentation, the participants from the college - based category will have to prepare the musical instruments themselves but for the senior-high inter school category, they are required to use minus one to avoid time consumption.

  • Musical accompaniment is a requirement. No participant should submit and perform a song that is in acapella form only.

  • The music video of each college/school is to be presented during the performance for the college category. Different mechanics and criteria will be used for the judging of the music video. However, for the senior-high inter school category, participants have the option to submit a music video or not.

  • The participants are the ones to provide their own musical accompaniment during the performance proper for the college-based but for the inter senior-high school category, they have to prepare the minus one. The preparation of the instruments is to be done while the music video of each college is being presented.

  • The only time allotted for the participants to prepare their instruments is within the duration of their music video presentation and will then proceed to the live performance of their song.

  • The participants must bring their own equipment, except for the drum set, microphones and sound system for the college - category which will be provided for by the event organizers.

  • Participants must bring their own guitars, keyboards, drumsticks, jacks and other gadgets on the day of the performance for the college - category.

  • Only certified participants/members are allowed to play the instruments.

  • Any music genre is allowed as long as it is not of the hard rock or heavy metal genre. For example are those music of bands like Metallica, Korn, Slipknot and alike.

  • The lyrics of the song entry must be in either Filipino, English and Cebuano or any combination or mix thereof.

  • The participants shall only be singing one song composition.

  • The song should not contain swear words and foul language.

  • Songs with double meanings that are negative are not allowed.

  •  The entries must be submitted on or before October 01, 2016 via email to lsufmozamiz@gmail.com following this format SUBJECT > MPOPENTRY_ TITLE_SCHOOL/COLLEGE < and your lyrics, chords in the body attached with the mp3 file of the song for ON AIR promotion at LSUFM and online voting.

B. Music Video Category

  • All entries should provide lyrics on the lower corner of the video. Lyrics should be readable, recognizable and sizable. 

  • Maximum time for the video is 6 minutes, this includes the intro, extro and in between. (A larger number of minutes have been set for the music videos in case there will be acting skits and etc.)

  • The sound and video should be of good quality.

  • All entries should begin with a 10 second full-screen “title screen” that includes the following information (make sure that the texts are readable and sizable):

    • College/School

    • Title of song

    • Total running time (not including the 10 second title screen)

  • The music video should not contain any malicious, ill-behavioral and obscene content. Observe decency.

  • The music video should not contain swear words and foul language.  

  • The participants should pass their copy of their song’s respective music videos on or before October 1, 2016.  Submissions are to be passed at the LSUFM Studio, AC18 for the college-based and via email thru lsufmozamiz@gmail.com following this format SUBJECT > MPOPENTRY_ TITLE_SCHOOL/COLLEGE < attached with the mp4 file of your video for the online voting through LSUFM face book page at facebook.com/lsufm. 

  • The music video entries should be submitted in a compact disc for the college-based category containing the following things on the cover of the cd:

title of the song entry

the name of the college/school

Screening of Entries

  •  A Screening Committee shall audition all entries from the college-based category and the inter senior-high school category and determine the twelve (12) finalist songs from the later.

  • The decision of the Screening Committee is final and binding on all parties concerned.

  • The titles of the 12 finalist songs, and the names of their respective composers, will be announced in the campus radio of the university and in the Facebook page of LSUFM - facebook.com/lsufm on or before October 05, 2014.

  • The artistic and production groups of the Competition Committee shall call the composers and interpreters for broadcast or promotion performances for each of the 12 finalists.

  • Those who will make it to the Top 5 must be present in person during the rehearsals and the finals night. Otherwise, the entry may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the competition management.

 

Finals Night

  • Entries from the college - based category shall be rendered and interpreted by the student or an alumni in his/her respective school or college.

  • Entries from the selected five (5) finalist songs shall be rendered and interpreted by the songwriter’s chosen singer/singers or   by himself during the final competition.

  • The schedule for the final song competition will be on the evening of October 14, 2016 at the Arts Center.
